As a tutor, my philosophy is, "Only those who have the patience to do simple things perfectly will acquire the skill to do difficult things easily." I was a gymnastics coach for 12 years and this still rings true. Now I tutor algebra, trigonometry, calculus, chemistry, and physics, helping students to develop the skills needed to improve and retain information. I also seek to get them to understand the material and appreciate learning. I was not a good student in high school. After going back to school, I realized all the things I never really learned have real-world significance and value in school and beyond. Being an adult student has made me realize my gymnastics teaching philosophy and lessons learned as a coach are important to my success in learning. I'm a junior at PSU, going for a B.S. in Biochemistry, and am a volunteer researcher at a university laboratory. Here I'm looking into the applications of quantum dots for harvesting light in solar energy generating devices. A combination of experiences has solidified my capabilities as an effective tutor. I have a passion for learning new ideas, working with computers, and of course exercise. Electronics and drawing fascinate me as well.
