Experience

Tutoring, for me, is more than simply a cynical ploy to get some quick cash. I love helping people, and truly enjoy the teaching process and discovering, relating, explaining, and analyzing new information. I hope to convey that love of learning to your or your child. I love working with students who want to learn, and believe that with hard work and the right approach, any student can succeed at any subject. Previous Tutoring Experience: English teacher, Language Link, Moscow, Russia (September 2012-June 2013): Taught English as a foreign language to Russian children, teens, and adults at all levels of ability (from true beginners to extremely advanced), both in group lessons and individually, using various full-immersion communicative and interactive methods. Planned and executed lessons, adapting to various problems with comprehension, cultural obstacles, and other difficulties as needed. English/History/SAT/ACT tutor, C2 Education Beaverton, Beaverton, OR (March 2014-present): Plan and teach individual SAT prep/ACT prep/general English/history lessons utilizing a variety of materials, adapting to individual student needs, goals, strengths, and weaknesses. Also: Men's Varsity Rowing Coach, Lake Oswego Community Rowing, Lake Oswego, OR (September 2013-February 2014): Instructed high-school athletes in the sport of rowing, overseeing on-the-water practices, developing technical skills and knowledge as well as implementing a year-round physical training program and practice schedule. Had constant practice contextualizing, detailing, and explaining new information to high schoolers. Hobbies

I love reading and researching. I spend an inordinate amount of time on Wikipedia researching historical events, but also love novels, especially science fiction. I'm also interested in the law and am looking into law studies. In addition to reading, I also love athletics and the outdoors. I trained for and competed in rowing through high school and college, and coached briefly. I also love running, hiking, biking, sailing, swimming, skiing, and just about anything that will get me out and doing something in my spare time.
